Washington, DC —American Constitution Society President Russ Feingold released the following statement today in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling that the Trump administration’s decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) violated the Administrative Procedures Act:

“Today’s decision is a great win for DREAMERS and for our nation. It means that hundreds of thousands of people brought to the United States as children can stay in the only country they have ever called home and continue to contribute to the fabric of our nation as they have done for years on end.

“The Court’s ruling that the Trump administration’s attempt to end DACA was ‘arbitrary and capricious’ further underscores the Administration’s cruel and haphazard approach to important immigration issues. At the same time, the Court held that the Trump administration does have the authority to terminate DACA, it just didn’t do so properly. While today we celebrate this victory for the DREAMERS and our country, we must continue to remain vigilant against attempts to end DACA.”
