ACS Member News: Week of September 16, 2019


ACS Board Member Alejandra Castillo was awarded the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's Medallion of Excellence for a Distinguished Alumnus Award.

ACS Board of Academic Advisors Member Stephen Vladeck was quoted in a Vox article and a Washington Post article after Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor mentioned his study in her dissent on an asylum ban affecting Central American migrants.    

ACS Minneapolis–Saint Paul Lawyer Chapter Co-Chair Rachel Kitze Collins was named an Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer.   

ACS Chicago Lawyer Chapter Co-Chair Dan A. Cotter and ACS University of Pennsylvania Law School Faculty Advisor Kermit Roosevelt III penned an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer on the significance of discussing federal courts in this election cycle.  

ACS Austin Lawyer Chapter Board Member Andrew Hairston was chosen for a Law for Black Lives “L4BL” Legal Fellowship.  

ACS Oregon Lawyer Chapter Leader Alycia Sykora was featured in the Bulletin of Central Oregon for organizing classroom instruction by attorneys on the U.S. Constitution to K-12 students as part of ACS’s Constitution in the Classroom program.  

ACS Student Chapter Leaders at California Western School of Law Rabiya Tirmizi and Oday Yousif co-authored an op-ed in the San Diego Union-Tribune on Constitution Day and the importance of discussing the courts.   

ACS Member Valerie Newman was recently inducted to the Wayne State University Law School Alumni Wall of Fame.
