Issue: Immigration
While our identity as a nation of immigrants is central to the American narrative, the U.S. has had a checkered past in its treatment of newcomers. ACS’s work in this area reflects a commitment to sensible and humane immigration laws and policies, and includes a focus on immigrant and refugee admissions policies, detention, enforcement and prosecutorial discretion, and the scope of federal versus local power in the immigration arena.
