The Green Wave: Reproductive Rights in Latin America
Join the American Constitution Society and the Latin American Law Students Association for a conversation on the Green Wave, a movement for reproductive rights in Latin America, on Tuesday, April 2 at 12:15PM in Room 5F. In recent years, Latin American nations including Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina have taken strong steps to legalize, decriminalize, or increase access to abortion and other reproductive care, in stark contrast to the United States. We will be joined by Cristina Rosero, Senior Legal Adviser for the Center for Reproductive Rights' Latin America & the Caribbean division, and our own Prof. John Acevedo. Through this conversation, we will learn about the affirmative steps that Latin American nations have taken, the grassroots activism that spurred this change, and what we in the United States can learn from them in the aftermath of Dobbs. Lunch will be provided.
