Professor Josie Brown graduated from Harvard law, magna cum laude, in 1983. She specializes in public interest law, with a specific sub-specialty in the constitutional rights of women and children. She has worked in both the legal aid setting and as a litigator with Hill and Barlow in Boston, MA, and has taught as a full-time faculty member at the University of South Carolina School of Law since 2004. As an ally organization, ACS at SC Law is co-sponsoring this event with Carolina Equality Alliance (a long-time partner of ours). Professor Brown will be addressing the upcoming case on cert to the Supreme Court, combining three composite cases ( Altitude Express Inc. v. Zarda, Bostock v. Clayton County, and R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v. EEOC ), in which the Court will address whether Title 7 applies to employment discrimination on the basis of sex as pertaining to LGBTQ individuals.
