State Solicitor Generals: Role in Setting Federal and State Public Policy
Join the Northwestern Law ACS Chapter, the Federalist Society, and Professor Xiao Wang for a conversation with four state Solicitor Generals to discuss their work and the important role that state SG's play in setting federal and state public policy. The SG's are from Texas, Florida, Illinois, and New Jersey. Each year, there are easily a dozen or more cases before the Supreme Court where state SG’s are lead counsel. That remains the case for this term (https://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/terms/ot2022/) and last term, where state SG’s were represented in Whole Women’s Health, Ramirez v. Collier (capital punishment and free exercise), Biden v. Missouri (COVID vaccination), and West Virginia v. EPA.
