Qualified Immunity for Officers and the Current Racial Unrest
People have taken to the streets in recent months to protest the treatment of minority communities by the police. One of the most common complaints is that the police seldom face consequences–frequently due to qualified immunity–for what is widely seen as unjustifiable deaths of mainly Black and Brown people. This event will discuss qualified immunity, what it means for policing in our modern world, and the impacts it has had on the nationwide protests.
