Progressive State Law Speaker Series - Criminal Justice Panel
In light of how conservative the current United States Supreme Court is, many progressive lawyers and law students feel defeated or cynical about whether progress is even possible. To that end, Lewis & Clark Law School ACS is hosting a three-day speaker series which highlights all the incredible progressive advocacy and organizing happening on the state level. We hope this series will give students some hope, inspiration, and comfort. Each day will focus on different area of state law, with one day focused on criminal justice, one day focused on environmental justice, and one day focused on bodily autonomy.
The criminal justice panel will feature:
Justice Bronson James, Oregon Supreme Court
Aliza Kaplan, Director, Criminal Justice Reform Clinic
Maggie Powers, Attorney, Metropolitan Public Defender, Community Law
Tara Herivel, Attorney, Herivel Defense
