National Injunctions Debate
Should a single federal district court judge be able to enjoin enforcement of a statute or regulation across the entire country? Can an injunction against enforcement be effective if only applied to a specific party? This issue came up recently with the preliminary injunctions against enforcing the Travel Ban. How far should a district court's authority reach? How far does it need to reach? What limits are there on this authority?
FIU’s professor Howard Wasserman will debate the issue of nationwide injunctions with American University law professor Amanda Frost.
Please join us in the large courtroom; lunch will be served.
