ACS Columbia: New York's Right to Shelter

Jerome Greene Hall 103, New York, NY

The Columbia Law School Chapter of the American Constitution Society will host Kathryn Kliff, a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society, to discuss New York City’s Right to Shelter Law. This discussion will highlight recent challenges to the Right to Shelter Law that occurred in response to an influx of people seeking asylum in both New York City and across New York State. We also plan to discuss the Legal Aid Society’s view that the New York State Constitution should be interpreted to find a Right to Shelter across the entire State of New York. Food will be available.
