A Lawyer’s Perspective: Challenging the Medical Emergencies Abortion Exception in Texas

Join us to hear from Astrid Ackerman, a lawyer on the case team representing the plaintiffs currently challenging the medical emergencies abortion exception in Texas as part of Zurawski v. State of Texas. In August 2023, a State District Texas judge issued an injunction blocking Texas's abortion bans as they apply to dangerous pregnancy complications. Hours later, the Texas Attorney General’s office filed an order with the Texas Supreme Court, which blocked the judge’s order from taking effect. This is a rare opportunity to hear from a lawyer actively engaged in reproductive strategy in a post Dobbs world.
