A Brief Overview of 42 U.S.C. § 1983

This provision of the US Code gives an individual the right to sue certain government employees and others acting "under the color of state law" for violations to their constitutional rights. If you're interested in learning how civil rights violations are litigated and how damages and injunctive relief are sought to remedy those violations, this event is just for you! The discussion will be led by Professor Gerald Weber, former legal director of the ACLU of Georgia, principal in The Weber Law Offices, and current senior staff counsel at the Southern Center for Human Rights.
