October 2018
With the 2020 Census looming, ACS is pleased to present a new Issue Brief by John H. Thompson, the 24th Director of the U.S. Census Bureau, and Robert Yablon, Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin, that provides a holistic strategy for state attorneys general to develop and implement, aimed at ensuring that their jurisdictions are fully and fairly counted. Counting 300-plus million people is no small feat, and the upcoming enumeration presents some persistent and some new challenges. It will also have enormous implications for democratic representation, as well as major economic and social impacts. It is critical that state attorneys general begin to focus on it now.
