The Role of State Solicitors General
ACS at UCLA is excited to present a panel addressing the fascinating (and sometimes mysterious) work of state solicitors general, the lawyers who argue appeals on behalf of states in state and federal courts. Especially in this moment, when so much high-profile litigation involves the states as parties on behalf of their residents, this is fascinating and timely work. We are delighted to be joined virtually by Hawaiʻi Solicitor General Kalikoʻonālani D. Fernandes, Illinois Deputy Solicitor General Alex Hemmer, and California Deputy Solicitor General Mica Moore. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Carolyn Shapiro (Chicago-Kent College of Law and Former Illinois Solicitor General). Co-sponsored by the David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law & Policy.
