Are Immigration Judges Independent Decision Makers?
Join Law Students for Immigrant Justice (LSIJ) and the American Constitutional Society (ACS) for a panel discussion featuring former immigration judges Rebecca Jamil, Carol King, Dana Leigh Marks, and Ilyce Shugall, moderated by Professor Hiroshi Motomura. The panel will explore the challenges the former judges faced on the bench, their approach to upholding the rule of law, and how to balance their own ethical priorities. This panel offers a unique opportunity to engage with and critically interrogate the role of a progressive judge within the complex and often challenging field of immigration law.
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd at 12:15 PM in Room 1430, with a virtual option available via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
Lunch will be provided for those attending in-person who RSVP by noon on Friday, October 18th.
