Civic Engagement Fair

The Commons, YT15, Washington, DC

You’re studying in DC but you may be registered to vote in your home state and want a say in your state’s choices. Or you might be registered to vote in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. Either way - are you ready to vote this November? Join the WCL Chapter of the American Constitution Society on Thursday, September 12 to make sure you’re all set ahead of this November’s elections.

To kick things off, the ACS American University Washington College of Law Student Chapter will be joined by Stetson Law Professor of Law Ciara Torres-Spelliscy to discuss her upcoming book, Corporatocracy: How to Protect Democracy from Dark Money and Corrupt Politicians, and emphasize the importance of civic engagement in protecting our democracy. In addition, we will have representatives on hand from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia boards of elections to assist you with any voter registration questions, as well as organizations that can help you request your absentee ballot. Whether you need help checking your voter registration, requesting an absentee ballot, or you’re looking for opportunities to get involved in protecting access to the ballot box, the Civic Engagement Fair has something for everyone!
