ACS Boston: Protecting Voting Rights in the Pandemic Era

As the nation continues to struggle against the public health and economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, another crisis looms: in light of a lack of federal support for adequate election infrastructure, how do we ensure a free and fair election in 2020? 

As we attempt to answer this question, join the ACS Boston Lawyer Chapter and the Boston Bar Association for a panel discussion on voting rights in our current pandemic. The panelists, all experts in the field, will explore the current and growing dangers threatening voting rights both locally and across the country.

In addition, the panelists will discuss various proposals and tactics, including:

Providing online voter registration and making registration less restrictive; 

Precluding attempts, including voter roll purges, to disenfranchise voters; 

Allowing for "no-excuse" mail in voting, providing prepaid mail-in voting envelopes, expanding early voting and expanding number of voting locations; and 

Fighting against voter suppression tactics such as voter ID laws, witness requirements for absentee ballots, insufficient polling locations and poll workers, and voter intimidation at the polls.
