Review of Law & Social Change (RLSC), and RISE Indivisible for an event on "Torture: the legal argument against an inhumane, immoral, and unjustifiable practice."

Our right to freedom from torture is absolute. Torture is antithetical to our rights as human beings, never to be excused nor justified—yet the United States has flouted international and domestic law and employed the use of mental and physical torment in the name of national security. Featuring activists and scholars, this event will provide insight into the universal prohibition against torture and the ways in which the executive branch of the United States government has tried to deteriorate that prohibition.
