Remembering Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Life of Advocacy and Dissent

Justice Ginsburg’s passing has sparked tense conversations about the future of the Supreme Court and political battles over her replacement.

But before we turn to the future, the ACS Northwestern Student Chapter invites you to join us for an hour of reflection on Justice Ginsburg’s legacy. She was a pioneer for women’s rights and gender equality, both as an advocate arguing before the Supreme Court and later as a judge on the D.C. Circuit and an associate justice on the Supreme Court. She worked tirelessly to end gender-based and other forms of discrimination in all areas of American life, and she spoke out forcefully for voting rights and rights for immigrants and asylum seekers. 

In addition, this reflection will acknowledge Justice Ginsburg’s checkered record on race and Native American rights. Our panelists offer expertise in reproductive justice, employment discrimination, election law, statutory interpretation, and immigration law. Please join us as we examine Justice Ginsburg’s complicated legacy and remember her efforts in expanding civil rights, efforts that we are now called to build upon.
