Reading Group: A Progressive Reading of the Constitution (We the People)
Join the American Constitution Society for our fall quarter reading group. We will be discussing sections from Berkeley Law Dean and noted constitutional law scholar, Erwin Chemerinsky’s new book: We the People: A Progressive Reading of the Constitution for the Twenty-First Century. Topics and themes will include: the challenges of applying an 18th century document to modern times, the role of the Preamble in constitutional interpretation, and why equality should be seen as a central constitutional value. While the entire book is worth reading, suggested sections to focus each discussion will be emailed in advance.
We will meet in the PICC room in the basement of the library building. Snacks will be served.
