Peeking Through the Bars: Transparency in Detention

Join the UB ACS Student Chapter as we discuss the issues centered around information disclosure and the effect various bodies of law have on jails and prisons, and how those seeking information can understand and work around the many barriers to access. 

We will be joined by Mr. Emanuel Powell of ArchCity Defenders, who represents families of those who have been killed by the police, or have died in their custody, and Mr. Michael Higgins, who is well versed in the New York FOIL (Freedom of Information Law), and is the assistant director of the Civil Rights and Transparency Clinic at UB Law.
