On July 24, ACS held "A View from Chambers: State and Federal Court Clerks Discuss Their Clerkships and How They Got Them," a program featuring a panel of current and former clerks from state and federal courts discussing the clerkship experience and strategies for negotiating the application process.

The program, cosponsored by the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) and hosted by Wildman Harrold, attracted nearly 90 law students, interns, and young attorneys. This highly informative and successful event was moderated by H. Roderic Heard, partner, Wildman Harrold, and featured Michael K. Fridkin, Senior Staff Attorney at the Office of Staff Law Clerks, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

In addition to Mr. Fridkin, panelists included Georgia Alexakis (Law Clerk to the Honorable Milton I. Shadur, US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and former 9th Circuit Clerk), Jack Theis (Law Clerk to the Honorable William J. Bauer, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit), Melissa Dorsey (Law Clerk to the Honorable Peter Flynn, Circuit Court of Cook County, Law Division, Chancery), and David Grossman (former Law Clerk to Julia Smith Gibbons, former Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, and Ronald Lee Gilman, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit).

ACS would also like to extend its gratitude to Susan Curry, Executive Director of the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) in Chicago, for her work in making this program a success, and to Wildman Harrold for generously hosting the event.
