A Welcome from the Washington D.C. Lawyer Chapter
On behalf of the Washington, D.C. Lawyer Chapter of ACS, welcome to our website!
Our Chapter has provided programming and social events for the capital area since 2002. We boast one of the largest Lawyer Chapters in the nation and host a wide variety of panel lunches, career panel events, book reviews, networking events and social gatherings. Our substantive programs cover a broad array of issues, including Social Security reform, election protection, reproductive rights, budgetary policy, and criminal justice.
In 2008, the D.C. Chapter adopted a formal constitution, creating four committees:
• Social Committee: organizes social and networking events for the Chapter, including happy hours and other gatherings.
• Programming Committee: organizes substantive events on legal topics, including book club events and lunchtime speakers.
• Outreach Committee: coordinates the Chapter's interaction with other organizations, with current and prospective members, and with
law students.
• Special Projects: organizes the Chapter's activities for facilitating scholarship, mentoring, volunteering and other projects.
Participation on these committees is open to any current dues-paying member of ACS in the capital area.
There are a number of ways to become involved in the Chapter. We encourage you to
• Join ACS as a dues-paying member,
• Attend or plan Chapter programs or social events,
• Organize other attorneys at your firm or organization, and
• Participate in our committees, which help direct the Chapter’s activities.
Please email us at WashingtonDC@ACSLaw.org to let us know if you're interested in these or other ways of becoming a part of our Chapter.
Sincerely,
The D.C. Chapter Board
