George Walker, Development Director
As Development Director, George oversees fundraising for ACS, including building on the organization's major donor program, expanding the organization's donor and membership base and obtaining foundation support. George joined ACS in March 2006. Prior to coming to ACS he was a Major Gifts Officer for the Human Rights Campaign. Prior to HRC, George served as the Deputy Operations Director for the Center for Community Change, where he worked on a myriad of tasks to promote the sustainability of staff and the organization. He joined the Center for Community Change as the first Director of Evaluation. George also served as the Associate Director of the Peace Development Fund, Amherst, MA. There, he participated in all functions of the fund development and programmatic areas for this national, grant-making and training foundation. George volunteered with the United States Peace Corps for two years (94-95) in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He served as a consultant to an agency that specialized in youth development, with an emphasis on poor areas outside of the city. George is a graduate of Morehouse College (BA History) and The Divinity School, Duke University (M-Div.).
